TO CLARIFY about the Public Hearing on December 19, 2022
At the June 2022 Town Meeting it was voted to move forward with a moratorium on Solar Farms in New Vineyard. This meant that this would stop any future Solar Farms for 180 days and to give time for an ordinance to be written. The Planning Board has written the ordinance and the 180 days are up December 25.,2022 To adopt an ordinance, it must be voted on at a town meeting. The Public Hearing is to extend the moratorium for another 180 days, which will bring in to June 17, 2023 and can be taken to the annual town meeting to be voted on. By extending this moratoium, we do not need to have a special town meeting before December 25,2022. Special Town Meetings can cost the town several hundreds of dollars. This Public Hearing is just a fomality to extend the moratoirum, not cost the town money and have the ordinance voted on at the Annual Town Meeting in June 2023.
